  • The Law Offices of James Henning & Associates, PLLC is seeking a rising 2L intern for Summer 2026. The intern will experience court proceedings, motion practice, and litigation strategy.

    Applicants should demonstrate an interest in criminal law and civil rights, at both the trial and appellate level. Strong research, writing and analytical skills are necessary. Applicants that have either a preexisting background in criminal law or have completed courses in criminal procedure and evidence are preferred. Due to the nature of the criminal matters our office handles, applicants should be comfortable discussing and engaging with sensitive subject matters, and evidence related thereto.  

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    ·      Internal case research (reviewing trial transcripts and related documents) ·      Legal research

    ·      Reviewing and analyzing discovery materials

    ·      Editing, drafting and reviewing motions and other submissions

    ·      Attending in-person court appearances

    ·      Reviewing intake applications, drafting summaries and presenting cases to our legal team.

    The commitment expectation is five (5) days per week, in-person, for six (6) weeks. The firm is flexible as to the commitment depending on the circumstances of the applicant. The tentative start date is Monday, June 1.
